Don’t Be Afraid to Write

Writing is scary. You put your soul onto a page, you spend hours going over your work and self criticizing only to put it out into the world for someone else to then judge and criticize. It is by no means a easy thing to do and I think that is what causes people not to write. They are to self-conscious about what others are going to think about their writing. They are too much of a perfectionist to allow themselves to write that painful but necessary terrible first draft. In order to write a book you have to let those things go. Your first draft will be terrible. Every time I read through a first draft I want to  rip my eyeballs out.  But I allow myself to write horrible because if I don’t the words will never get on the paper. I spend hours fixing my writing but you can’t edit words that aren’t there. So I challenge you to let go of all your fears and allow yourself to write. Allow others to give you feedback and let that feedback improve your writing. Don’t be afraid to write because then you never will.
